I being a recruiter understood this very well that Personal Branding is very important. Six month back I received a call from the president HR of a re known company asking me about his new venture in HR Consulting firm & how the Business works. After a conversation about 30 minutes he asked me Taranjit do you have any job at my level as this Business is not my cup of tea. When I started, many people who are my batch mates, professional friends & colleagues committed me that they will support & now everyone has started ignoring even my calls. Now I understand the value of the chair (Title) I was in. I always worked hard for the Organization & thought about increasing its Brand visibility. At no point thought of creating personal brand. It was President HR how people knew me instead of the person who I am. Now I want to get back to the Corporate & start sharing my knowledge with people & mentor people instead of just performing my duties well. I will create my brand so that people know me for the work I do & value I bring to the Organization.
Personal Branding is nothing but the Good name & reputation you make for yourself in personal & professional Life.
You might be in the key role for your Organization but what you are intellectually to the industry is equally important.
Nishit Lal mentioned it really well “”If I strip away your job title, who are you in the industry?”
It was at that very moment when I started on the journey of building my personal brand.”
