I begin this series with hope…hope that we learn from what the Corona virus has taught us. For me, the most important lesson to learnt from the crisis is to expect the unexpected. To be as ‘future ready’ as we possibly can. The big question is…how? How do we know that we are truly future ready? While no one can foretell the future, we can definitely plan for it.
This blog is about planning for your future. Why? Because, as the cliché goes – if we fail to plan…we are in effect planning to fail. When should we start planning? My advice would be to start as early as possible…the ideal time is to plan is as soon as one becomes a teenager! The mind of teenager is like a sponge…it absorbs much faster than an adult mind though it’s never too late. Planning and execution of plans is a lifelong process. The sooner we begin the better!
How do we plan? The first step is to know ourselves. We have to take the time to think about what we like to do and how we can transform what we like into useful activity. There are many types of useful activity that match what you like to do. You have to identify the particular activity. You might need some help and counseling.
It is extremely important to identify the right career at an early stage of life. Usually till the Xth Class, all schools have a common curriculum for all students. What stream should you choose after your Xth? This is the first critical career decision. It will lead you to the choice of your career in life. You should make sure it matches your interests and capabilities. This depends on who you are – your personal skills and your interests. You must also understand the pros and cons of each choice and make an informed decision. This is vital for you and your future!
This series is meant to make you aware of your options …to help you figure what to do…to help you plan for a better future at all stages in Life!
Till we meet again……
